ABU DHABI, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced on Tuesday a successful mediation of a new exchange of captives between Russia and Ukraine, with each side releasing 205 individuals.

According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it marks the 15th such exchange facilitated by the UAE, bringing the total number of captives exchanged under its mediation to 4,181.

The successful exchange highlights the trust both parties place in the UAE's diplomatic role in helping resolve the ongoing conflict, said the ministry.

The UAE also reiterated its intention to support all initiatives aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, stressing the importance of mitigating the humanitarian impact of the war, particularly on refugees and captives. ■
